A New Beginning

Hello, You're receiving this message because you're on the old Sci-Fi Club mailing list. This is probably because you subscribed to it sometime in the past, or someone subscribed you without your permission. If you do not want to receive these emails, please accept our apologies. Send us a reply and we'll happily remove you. Almost two years ago, Sci-Fi Club became the Unlikely Society, under the stewardship of the wonderful Ali, who has steered us through choppy waters. However, personal and work commitments have meant that Ali no longer has the time to give the society the attention she feels it deserves, and she feels it is time to stand down. We're all grateful to Ali for the energy she brought to the society. So it is time for a new beginning. Caitriona Hamman, ably assisted by Frank Darcy, with a little technical backup from James Shields, have taken over the reins. Rather than just maintain the status quo, they have decided to make some changes. The club will now be called the New Irish Science Fiction Association. There is also a new venue for the meetings, The White Horse Inn on Burgh Quay. This is very central and extremely convenient for DART and many bus routes. They promise to have regular speakers at meetings and to return to having a membership of the association. A new website has been set up for the club at http://www.nisfa.org The first meeting will be on Tuesday 2nd October. As time is short, it wouldn't be fair to have a speaker without publicising properly, and the organisers feel it's important to find out what the members of the new association want. So this meeting will be a brainstorming session where we'd like to hear your ideas. Please come along and let us know what you want from the New Irish Science Fiction Association. Caitriona, Frank and James
