This is just a quick reminder that the November meeting of NISFA will take place in the White Horse pub on Burgh Quay, Dublin 1 on the Tuesday 11th of November at 8pm.

Hello. My name is Pádraig Ó Méalóid, and I have undertaken to take over the running of NISFA, the New Irish Science Fiction Association, from my sister, Caitríona Hamman.

 

Hi there,

NISFA is still recovering from a sad week which saw our good friend Frank Darcy lose his fight with cancer.

This month's NISFA meeting will continue as usual, and will be a celebration of Frank's life. Please come along and share your memories or just have a drink to his memory.

In addition, we will have a short discussion about the future of the association, with some changes planned to bring in new faces and revamp the meetings.

We look forward to seeing many of you on Tuesday.

Dear Friends,

Frank Darcy, a well known and much loved science fiction fan, lost his battle with cancer and passed away at 6:30 on Wednesday morning. He is a former organiser of the Dublin sci-fi meetings, and has been running P-Con for the last few years.

Bad news: Christine Darcy just phoned to say that Frank died this morning at around 6:30 in Our Lady's Hospice in Harold's Cross. She said that it was very peaceful and he just slipped away.

The next meeting will take place in the White Horse Inn on Tuesday the 10th June at 8pm.

The guest speaker will be Rory Lennon, who will be talking about Midsummer. Bookseller extraordinaire, Rory has an encyclopaedic knowledge of science fiction lterature, and has given many entrawlling talks at meetings and conventions.

Also coming up: the NISFA Summer Barbecue. Date and venue to be confirmed shortly.

The next meeting will take place in the White Horse Inn on the 13th May at 8pm. 

The guest speaker will be Michael Carroll.  Michael has recently published a collection of short stories, "Superhuman" which  are connected to his "New Heroes" series.  You can find out more about these on the official "New Heroes" website www.quantumprophecy.com.  

Just a quick note to remind you of the NISFA meeting on Tuesday 8th April. The meeting is in the White Horse Inn at 8pm and the guest speaker is Derek Gunn, author of Vampire Apocalypse.
